Perhaps something has gone astray at the Surplus Center web site. The
replacement part for the old-style (an eyelet fitting at both ends, so the Amphi
upper fastener is an upside down U-bracket, not a through-the-hull hole) Amphi
front shock is the Maeco PK22K1, shown at:

<a href="http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2004012418080856&item=28-1343&catname=engines">http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2004012418080856&item=28-1343&catname=\
engines</a>

But wait, the picture shows a shock only, without the coil spring and the
rod-end coil spring mounting "dome". This is not the picture they had a couple
of months ago. And the price is $8.99 and there are only 2 left in stock!!!

OTOH, the text description clearly describes a spring associated with this part
(and I paid about $20 each for them a few months ago). And there was a few
hundred in stock then.

Hmm, has somebody bought out ALL of those Amphi-interchangeable shocks? If so, I
wonder WHO? Now who do we know that might want a few hundred Amphi front shocks?

If what's left is just 2 shocks, and they don't even have the springs or
mounting hardware to even accept springs, then we have just seen a big source of
parts evaporate into thin air. And that's the exact reason that I want to cross
any Amphi part to a common commercial part, like a Monroe or a Koni or a
Gabriel. They are big enough makers that, once you find a part, it will be
around in the distribution channels for many years.

Meanwhile, if this isn't just a mix-up at Surplus Center's web catalog site,
then be careful about what you order now. OTOH, at $9 each, and only two left,
maybe it's not important any more.
