Exhaust J pipe replacement

Had a nice fathers day with my daughter in the Amphicar. Went on a rolling car show. Land only drive from Concord Mass to Hardwick Mass, about 70 miles one way. On the way back the welded joint on J pipe broke near where it bolts up to the manifold.
My car is an early one, 100078.
My question is what J pipe should I get, and from who? Should I replace the muffler as well? I did some reading and am concerned that my early car might have a problem that the later cars do not have.

Get a new J pipe from Gordon Imports, along with a new gasket and exhaust nuts. Their Hi Performance pipe has a slightly larger diameter than the original. Why not get a new muffler and tail pipe while you're at it so you're sure it all fits. How's your chrome tail pipe extension and silicone gasket looking?
Caution removing the old exhaust nuts so you don't break off the manifold studs. That's where an oxy acetylene torch comes in handy to heat up the nuts to help loosen them. Then chase the threads with a M8-1.25 die. Use high temp anti seize when installing the new nuts. Removing the rear hood makes access a whole lot easier for muffler work.
And one more thing, check your rubber engine mounts. I forgot how much clearance there is between the bottom of the J pipe and the hull but make sure it's not contacting, though I think the fan would hit the shroud first. Worth a check.

Ended up taking amphi to the muffler shop. I don't have a torch or welder in my wood shop. And I had replaced muffler, tail pipe, and chrome tip a few years ago. So I decided to have them repair the broken j pipe. In and out repair to the tune of $300. Ready for the weekend. I would have replaced the whole system but didn't want to run into problems and be broke down in the summer. So thanks for the advice Ken and when it shows its age next time it will get a complete system replacement.
