Removing the engine, were do you split from transmission

Just started working on my Fathers Boat. I want to take out only the engine. Were should I split it from the transmission. At the 20 or so bolts that are before the bell housing from the engine side? or the 4 larger bolts after the bell housing? It looks like they both might work ? Thanks Jerry

Four is much easier. Don't forget to replace/inspect input shaft seal on transmission. Later Dave
