Working On My Amphi

I finally started working on my Amphicar this summer. It has been
apart for about ten years, and I hope to have it back together by
next year.

As I start to evaluate what items I need during this process, and I
will probably be asking many questions and requesting help from many
of you as I proceed.

I am in the process of stripping the inside of my car, and getting
it prepared to sandblast so I can determine what areas of the sheet
metal need repalacing. I already know I need lower rear fenders,
rockers, and my door are not looking too good either. I probably
will need to replace the sheet metal on either side in the rear
where the battery tray resides.

As it stand right now I need u-joints, and wonder if anyone has
these. Please let me know if any of you have this part or know
where I can get them.

I also related a sad story to a few of you at Dave's swim In this
May regarding my losing the clutch and pressure plate. I will need
to replace these as well.

Anyway, thanks for listening, and I would appreciate all the help I
can get finding these parts.

See you all in celina.

The "escribe" Amhicar Archives are great for searching for things posted
before switching to Yahoo.

Anyway, I've rebuilt axles on a couple of my Amphicars using a slightly
oversize NAPA u-joint and using a valve grinder, turn the end bearing caps
down a few thousands to fit the metric yokes and a small shim between the
bearing cap and the outside locking ring. The archives has a lot of
things on this topic...

Hello John,

Check out my high performance clutch kit on the amphicar classifieds
((amphicar.com/ads.htm). It includes everything you need for your
missing clutch, the flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate and release
bearing. It's such a complete package that it even includes the
pressure plate screws and release bearing clips. It is stronger than
the original parts and will work on any Triumph engine that you put
in your Amphicar. I keep them in stock and ready to ship.
