Happy New Year & Forum Update

Greetings Fellow Amphibians, and a happy new year to all.

Just wanted to share with you some updates on the forums for 2009.

I am looking to do a major update to the forums software shortly. I am waiting on a major new release which is just now in beta test. I also need to make sure that any new releases do not wreak havoc on the email integration which is added software.

John Bevins has indeed made the Amphicar maintenance manual available for me to post on the forums. Right now I am trying to figure out the best way to do so that will not send bandwidth usage through the roof. We are looking at over 50MB for the maintenance manual alone. I have been playing around with various options over the past few days and hope to have an answer soon.

I have gotten rid of most of the google ads. I will try out a new rotating ads system for site sponsors when we do the next upgrade to software.

The battle against the spammers continues, thus far successfully. I have set up multiple layers to thwart the purveyors of fake ******, Russian Casinos, and Nigerian princesses. Just this evening I installed a great new anti-spammer defense. Within 5 minutes of install it had blocked 2 spammer ip's (one Russian, one Chinese).

Have a great new year. Thanks for all the support.

You are doing a super job, Mike. It is exceptionally nice to have central
forum to share problems, ideas, and the pleasure these vehicles bring to
operators and observers. Perhaps we can begin to schedule "group" chats
again in 2009?

Thank you for your (massive) efforts on behalf of all Amphicar owners and
enthusiasts. It probably doesn't get said enough.

Happy New Year!
