John,
Beware of insurance agents that verbally state something however
nothing is officially in writing. They mean well however if the
company has to pay a $40,000 claim for a total loss in water it will
go to the next level of the insurance carrier. Without all in writing
you are at the mercy of his word and his superiors typically rule in
their favor. Also beware of when he may retire as the next guy might
not honor previous verbal agreements.
I know of several in the old car hobby that have had issues with
verbal agreements. At minium I would have him put something in
writing of which he should it there aren't any issues.
