The second Hagerty magazine is now being distributed. The inside back
cover on page 23 features the Cult Classic Amphicar. A quick history
and lack of performance report is followed by the record 2006 Berrett-
Jackson price of $124,200. Amphicar retains a highly dedicated fan
base that sets Amphicar owners apart from traditional car
fanatics, "Amphicar owners have fun." They are out at lakes , at
splash-ins giving charity fun rides and wear ridiculous costumes.Three
photos of an aqua Amphicar round out the article. Im proud to be a
mamber of this mentally unbalanced group.

A close eye will spot a red Amphi on Page 21, too....in an unrelated
article!

Hello Amphipians, allow myself to introduce myself, sounded funnier
in the movie. I'm not brand new to the group, but it is the first
time for me to post. I live just north of Tampa, Florida and do not
yet own an Amphi but I have been looking. I did mess around with
DUWKs back in the 19{mumbling with fingers over mouth}0's. Gosh I
wish I still had those!

I had also read that about the Amphi's lack of power. Having owned
some Collectable Ford powered Sports Cars, they did have a lot of
power, but power alone is over rated and I would much rather have the
Amphi badge that read "Powered by Fun" instead.

You never ever get to use all the horsepower under the peddle anyway,
for the same reason why the Amphis' don't want to go swimming in salt
water. I had a Cobra at one point and I had to have Rolaids loaded
into my Pez despenser every time I took it out anywhere there was a
chance for a stray Ping Pong ball to get too close and rickochet off
of the aluminum body like a meteor, or spinning the tires in gravel
would always result in a new "Outtie" fender dent.

Most of them are "Closet Queens" and spend their whole life being
dispayed behind a rope or Trailered everywhere, that's not any fun
either!

There are a lot of other sports cars that over-heat as well, parts
hard to get, etc, but "they" don't float very well and their club
members also don't get to wear big fish heads either, well not in
public anyway.

Here's something to cool your jets. If you go to the finance page of www.yahoo.com ( sry I don't have the direct link in front of me) you'll find an article on the top 10 best Bond cars and the Amphi isn't one of them. Then there's an honorable mention list of cars and the amphi crapped out AGAIN! The Aston Martin was #1 and the Lotus submarine was #2. Bastards.
