fuel tank replacement

has anyone used a moeller plastic or rds aluminum replacement tank in their
cars and if so did they work out satisfactorly? also what size did you
use. i am considering going to a larger 19 gal tank rather than the porsch

You would think that with the scarcity and dilapidation of gas tanks, that Hugh might start reproducing them. A nice aluminum or stainless tank would be nice!!!!

Aluminum is the only way to fly - now on the 2nd year of use on my replica
tank.* 1/8 alum is tough to roll* but once all tig welded together.VERY NICE*

*stretched the front to rear dim. to make it slightly larger
Used Goland motorcycle petcock and really cool renuable fuel filter -all fuel
pasages 1/4 plus
but most important if i open the front and say what do you think most dont even
notice (painted mat black)
exact same shape
and**no more rusty petcock crap
I*thought about making a kit** You bring it to your favorite welder to assemble
all the pieces together get Pricey

At one point I made a cad model of the original tank and sent it off to a shop to see what it would cost to have made in stainless. They quoted me something north of $1200. I don't know how much of that is materials cost and how much is labor.
