Fuel Tank Restoration

Does anybody have recommendations on cleaning/restoration of an Amphicar gas tank? I have a tank that looks wonderful from the outside with nice original paint BUT the inside is covered with rust.
Has anyone tried a company that uses the RENU system where they actually go in and sandblast the interior before coating with a lining material? Gas Tank RENU - USA
Thanks,
Ted

Keep sand on outside!
Inside I usually send tank out to get Acid dipped, then plug all holes and fill with a 2 stroke type oil till in use again,
You can do it yourself buy using muratic acid, put inside and slosh around for a few days, wah out and dry then add oil again..
GORD.. Finally at home!:005:

I had mine dipped at a professional stripper shop, then they sealed the inside with a white coating designed for gas tanks. That was more than 10 years ago without a problem. Don't let anybody talk you into the method of drilling holes and plugging them after.

That phrase "I had mine dipped at a professional stripper shop" just
gives me a warm tingly feeling. I can't wait for the discussion to get
around to lubricants again...
