It’s been a while since we’ve updated this thread primarily because I am too cheap to buy an aircard and therefore we must be somewhere there is a Wifi connection. All is well, however.

We had a great time at the Koops and the Holland Swim-in over the weekend of the 11th with about 8 cars in attendance. Swimming on Friday and Sunday was remarkable, but Saturday was pretty much a rain-out, meaning we all ate a lot and swapped stories. Great fun, however. Ed & Sharon literally opened up their home to us and were marvelous hosts. We were out in Lake Michigan on Friday evening.. .. .. .. there is a LOT of water there! Nothing but horizon in every direction except behind us! We became reacquainted with some old friends and met new ones.

Amphi spent three nights along the SE shore of beautiful Lake Michigan as we worked our way very slowly to Indiana Dunes State Park before hitting the toll roads for the 160 mile run to John Capone’s in South Beloit, IL. He too was a gracious host and had many activities planned for the group. Besides lots of meals, a visit to the Autorama car show, a great bonfire party, and a terrific museum, we spend many hours up and down the Rock River with as many as 16 cars! We again saw some folks we’ve known over the weeks or years and met many new ones. As outsiders from the far west coast to these regional gatherings everyone was glad to see us and we felt warmly welcomed and an integral part of the crowd. Thank you to all!

We left Beloit on Monday traveling the 80 miles or so to Mendota, IL where we left Amphi at the rust-oncology clinic of Dr. Wave. Her odometer read 6,991 miles higher than when we began the trip on August 3rd. We also enjoyed a terrific BBQ pork chop dinner (thank you Margie & Dave) before leaving Tuesday morning (9/21) beginning the 2,000 mile journey home. Quite strange to be driving the Breeze without our little buddy behind. We haven’t received a single wave or thumbs-up all day! We expect to arrive home next Tuesday.

Thanks for the update Larry. Hope you & Nancy are going to adjust OK
when you return home. Boy will your house seem big! Have a great
year until we all get together again. Ina

55 days and 8,640 miles later we are safely home. For that much driving it really should have been a 80 or 90 day trip, but all-in-all it was teriffic!

Thank you again to those in the Amphicar community who made us feel so welcome and opened their homes and hearts to us. This is indeed a great group of owners and enthusiasts.

I don't think we can get back out that far next year, but we'll certainly keep exploring West Coast venues and locales.

All the best,

Welcome back home Larry and Nancy. Good to hear your cross country trip went so well. What's happening with Amphi?

A big West Coast Amphicar swim-in is being planned for next year, late September at Clear Lake in Northern California. It will coincide with the annual West Coast Seaplane Pilots splash-in happening there. Mark your calendar and hope to see you there.
