The 24mm U joint on a Amphicar are Very hard to change, I am going to do an article on the job and post it in The Club newsletter!
1st you have to remove the no removable cap holder. That's right. there non removable!
I use a cut off saw and carefully cut the U joint ends off (pic 3)Then I can press the caps with the clips inside where they pop out easy!
Now you must hone the cap holes till the new caps will slide in with out too much pressure(or they will distort and not work)Pic. 2.
Put u joints together carefully, so no roller pins fall out and center.pic 4.
holding bottom so it will not move drive the locking clips in place! pic 5.
When your done... Wash wife's car!
