early has 24mm u-joints
middle-production? has 30mm
"late" ones have 28mm?

what are the pros or cons , and why did they keep changing

(i have the early ones....so if course naturally concerned WHY they changes - and that maybe there was a problem or breakage that made the company change them to heavier?)

Agree - but seriously:
are there any "negatives" to the early/smaller driveshafts? Sure - if I had a "1500" with dual carbs, I might want heavier shafts maybe,
.....but were there "issues" to be aware of with the early/smaller shafts that I should know about or take care not to stress them, etc?

Automobielbedrif Bert Story NV in Rhenoy told me in 1971 that the serie 2 heavier drive axles are fully able to stand increased power like an engine swap to Spitfire 1300 or else fitting intake manifold and Weber 2 bbl to the original Herald 1147 cc.
