Tachometer in place of the clock

I read somewhere about a German made Tach that mounts in place of the
clock on an Amphicar and looks stock. I can't seem to find it on line
now. Does anyone have any info on what might work? It seems to me it was
supposed to be a bolt in swap.

Not much info in either posting about the setup or brand of tachometer (rev
counter), but maybe you can contact the original authors off-list for more
info.

In 1968 I installed a Veglia Borletti tachometer in place of the clock. Bought it at JC Whitney. Fit exactly. In the lake it read 3350 to 3400 rpm. That corresponds to the maximal water speed of 12 km per hour in German factory literature. With a Spitfire 1300 engine you may get 3880 rpm in the lake, or 13,7 km per hour....Gord Souter says.
