Support Rod Question???

I'm finally getting ready to put the front trunk lid and rear engine decklids on my Amphicar. Could somebody tell me which of the 2 support rods goes with each lid? Also, what are the correct colors? Black for the engine lid and body color for the front trunk lid are my guesses.
Thanks,
Ted

Engine cover has a hole about center for spring. Usually they are both black. If able to stray from original, they are nice chromed. Post more pics. Later Dave

They are both front, you can tell by the ends.

There are other options on the front that work better. Some of the Germans
use hydraulic struts as used on a modern car. One each side they
automatically hold it open but another benefit is you can fit them in an
over centre way so they hold the hood down as well - then you don't need to
worry about that stupid safety catch as it removes the risk of the hood
lifting and smashing in to the windshield if you forget to lock it.

I'll try and find some photos, it's on my list of jobs to do.

David:

As the Germans like documentation, might there be a drawing of the mounting
of those hood struts?

I can't find a rod in my boxes of parts. Does anybody have a rear decklid support rod and spring that they would be willing to sell or trade for ????

When you find the drawings I too would be happy to use struts when I put my car back together when painting is complete
