Well here we are, in that mad dash to the end of Summer mode, trying
to do all we can do before the nice weather ends. Living in Wisconsin
means 9 months of winter and more than likely or definitely maybe 3
months of fair to warm weather, all three days of summer were great
this year, we may have to get an air conditioner next year, these high
70's are too much.

And now for the big question, where can I get an intake/exhaust
manifold before this weekends swim in at beautiful Lake Geneva?

It never fails, I mean the domino effect, when you start work on one
thing, it always leads to more work on other things, this does not
only apply to Amphicars, any car will do this to the best of us, I
always plan ahead when starting projects for that extra unforeseen
stuff.

Needless to say, Amphi did not swim this weekend and at the end of the
season this can only mean...

Have you tried Hugh Gordon at:

GORDON IMPORTS, 14330 ISELI RD.
SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA 90670
PHONE 562-802-1608 FAX 562-404-1904

My guess is he could easily UPS you a manifold by Next Day or 2nd Day Air.
I've got a spare one, but it's pretty well knackered and would need some
engineering about the header studs to fit to spec (though I used it
"temporarily" for years with a couple of thinnish through-bolts instead).
If Hugh can't hook you up, drop me a line.

Marty,
I'm in Downers Grove, Illinois and although I'm at work now I'm sure
I have one for you. You are welcome to come pick it up if that
helps. Did you have an exhaust problem and broke off a stud? If
need be call me at 630-493-3124.

Mike

Mike

I needed to replace the muffler which had a few large holes in it, and
in the process as it is prescribed, soak the stud nuts a few days,
which I did, remove the manifold and split the nuts with a hack saw or
dremel tool, which I did and the nuts still hung on and eventually
broke two of the three studs off. What a chore. The manifold is back
together now and when I get home, on it will go. The muffler needs a
strap holding made to hold it, OK, I can do that but there is not
anything to hold the rear of the muffler to the back bracket. I'm not
sure what we will do, but it will be something. Have you ever looked
for a 1 1/4" muffler clamp to use on the small diameter header? They
don't make them.

Our car will be ready for the Lake Geneva swim in, and it will be a
little more quiet than it has been.

Other than still needing a steel generator pulley with fan, we are
ready to swim at a moments notice.
