Puddingstone Swim-in Report
All Amphicar people are the best! No other group
comes close to our culture and way of life. At
our mini swim-in at Puddingstone lake in L.A. we
had 9 Amphis and perhaps 20 Amphi people
in attendance. A perfect day of sun and very
comfortable conditions on the lake. Lots of
new faces (soon to join the International
Amphicar Owners Club at my insistence)
all with the same gilled grin on our dials.
Some totally immaculate Amphis too! All swam
and enjoyed the California style swim-in event.
Highlights I witnessed - bikini clad mermaids
sprawled across the back seats, total ownership
of our own private ramp, great food and beverages,
bilging like Niagara Falls, hours of channel 56 TV
interviews and filming, splash entries, a maiden
voyage by a new member, no breakdowns, over
100 passers-by with mouths agape and of course
many random acts of amphibious silliness.
Funniest comment heard was one Amphi
"bilging" mid hull and was said to be "peeing
like a girl, rather than out the bilge spout like a
boy." Thanks to Allan W. for all the fine food and
drink, John F. for showing me how far my Amphi
needs to come before ultimate perfection, Steve R.
and others for all the awesome rides, Hugh & Jeanie
for attending and passing the event flyer to all,
and Marc S. for the cool "Amphicar" banner loaner,
and to all the new comers to our club. Next year
will be even better. And don't forget June 1st
in San Diego is yet another wild swim-in event!
Contact me off list if you need directions and/or
accommodations.
Be well, swim safe.
