If it's the same tool to remove the prop shaft from the transmittion, I
bought one from Hugh. It's a Snap-on tool. It's marked 8 FTSM8LE. It
looks like a star tool except it has 12 points.

Still off the ground in South Carolina

amphicar for a number of years. Ive been reading this
mail on the club for a month or so. Before I buy a car
I would like to ride in one. Im in the St Louis area.
Is there anyone in my area here I could meet with or
where is the closest club member? Also does anyone
have a car for sale? Mike Dixon

Believe it or not while sitting in the back seat area last night looking over my
tranny I noticed a piece of metal sticking up through the last bit of goop I had
not cleaned up in the bilge. I fished out an 8 mm prop shaft bolt tool. It was
very corroded and even has German markings on it. I'd like to believe the
mechanic who installed my prop shafts 40 or so years ago left it for me to
remove them. Worked just fine and my prop shafts are now out of the car.

Don't all the Amphis come with the prop shaft tool rolling around in the
bilge to be discovered? Only kidding. Vic "Splash" Nelson with the "Split

Not necessarily; mine came with an original German 10mm open-end wrench.
