Newbie Amphicar Owner

Everyone is welcome. Paul please take a picture for the newsletter of you playing music with these stuck up your nostrils! :003:

On Amphi squirters: I filled a large empty 6 quart oil container with water and put alongside battery, installed a universal windshield washer pump and ty-rapped it to the containers handle, put a pushbutton switch under the dash, connected all to the battery, routed a rubber hose through the rear engine cover louvers and stuck a 18/22 gauge electrical butt connector in the end (the smaller the hole the longer the squirt). It shoots really far.

Gord Souter has one that is remote control that can squirt people walking by the car. Ron Trudeau just installed a huge bilge pump that draws a endless supply of water by the rear bumpers and is attached to a full size garden hose and nozzle. Those with super soaker squirt guns don't stand a chance with Ron.

Ron,

We wouldn't mind having one for our's!

Ok I found 5 extensions.

Amphi1: I need your full name so please email it to me and I will look up your address in the club roster and mail you 1, unless Ted already mailed you his.

Charles: I have your info and will mail you 1, out unless your going to the Boston swim in which I will deliver it.

Paul: I believe I may have your name on my other computer however email me your full name and I will look up your address in the club roster and mail you 2.

That leaves either 1 or 2 left depending on Amphi1 getting Ted’s.
Anyone else needing one let me know, those notifying me 1st get them. I will be mailing the club newsletter out Monday and will drop in the mail then.

Ron - We're going to Miramar Lake so I'll "try" to get the described picture into our schedule. Might as well have an audience. (I love a wise-cracker who knows one when he sees one) lololol. ** Paul goes to "good guy" scorecard and give Ron a checkmark**

Regarding bilging on tail gaters: Yes I have tried this, and they
really back off in a hurry.
I don' t think anyone wants oily bilge water on their hood. It does get
there attention.

Ron,

Just FYI, I originally tried to post this to the forum back on the
13th right after you said there were 5 available. For some reason it
didn't show up until today. I have no idea why it didn't show up.

Missed out, oh well.....:)

This is where we need Juanito F. to calculate firing tables based on bilge pump pressure, distance, elevation, and bilge water viscosity. Then use a gunners quadrant to "adjust" tube angle at the bilge port. Did I mention I'm an old guy from M-114, 155 towed howitzers! I just went up and down those grades there around Durango CA and really nobody got pissed. It's here this winter... too bad Harleys don't have bilges and pumps... really!

Sorry all I dug through all the amphi archive boxes and they are gone. The club is looking into the possibility of having some of the transmission dipsticks made that were popular a few years ago and given as an annual gift.

Paul, member Sam Ferge saw my squirter set up and said that it would be real easy to install a small motor and make it rotate for directional fun. Add Sam to your list. :)

Hi Ron: I did receive a spout from Ted Matthews so the extra one you have could go to another amphi owner . Thanks again.:)

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful replies and suggestions. I have a few more questions.

1) Does anyone else have a problem with the rear seat (with no one sitting on it) lifting up while traveling at approx. 60 M.P.H.? Short of slowing down or putting someone in the back seat is there any remedies?

2) Any suggestions for replacing what I think is the factory original radio that is not working? The opening on the dash is 3.5 x 1.5 inches and is positive ground. I am interested in an AM/FM while the original was just an AM. Is there a unit anyone has installed without cutting up the dash? Has anyone installed a unit in the glove box and if so what make and model of unit? Was it an easy install?

3) How often does everyone grease their cars? Does anyone have an exact count on how many grease fittings there is and where they may be hiding? I don't want to miss any.

Thanks Again :)

The Best under lay for the back seat that i have seen is the Gord Souter part ( i called it a rear seat potato chip)
it is fiber glass and fits perfect. if you are like me and were missing the original under lay this is as good and even better- it wont get wet and not dry Good luck
Dave
