Ship ahoi for CapnJohn.
He should be the next Amphibian of the year.
Why?
Because HE keeps stirring things up, and I like it. It is almost as good as Borat ( The cultural Learnings Of The USA For The Benefit Of The Republic Of Kazachstan).
BUT there should be ONE condition for him being elected: HE should have the promised free technical stuff including the searchable manuals available within 2 or 3 weeks on his Rockymountain website.

Now go for it Capn, greetings from The Flying Dutchman:dft012:

I am only trying to get people to be more aware and maybe just maybe they will be proactive to effect the changes. I was attacked by the board for "Not updating the site" (and still without a single bit of proof that anyone ever complained) but when it is somebody else doing the site who has a life and can not spend all day working the site, nobody seems to speak up about 2+ year old ads and stagnant pages and what about all the requests for ads? Are the board members just taking that info and making the deals for thier own benefit without posting the ads? Whare are all the ads they accused me of not posting? They don't exist because just as when I was webmaster, there were very few requests for ads, that's why. The board will never admit they jumped the gun and mistakenly assumed I was doing something wrong, and this proves I didn't do anything wrong! It is simply not a small task to keep it updated let alone fresh. Until people speak up instead of just complaining in secret and behind closed doors, NOTHING will ever change. So I voice my opinion and I'm again the bad guy. Oh well that's OK, you can thank me later. Martin L. King was accused of "stirring the pot" and he is now a hero to millions for just that. I never asked for anything from anyone (not even the out of pocket $ I spent for the club), but the many "Thank yous" I received were super! The site is what it is today because of what I did with the great foundation Bilgy provided and it seems most don't understand or care. You're all still very welcome. Who named the W&W newletter? It was my suggestion too.

So who is going to volunteer for a board position? Nobody has a right to complain if they don't participate. I can't even get them to send me a roster even though I've requested it nicely twice so I doubt working with any of them would be any more productive. (I have one, thanks anyway)

I will gladly be putting the manuals up on my website. They will be FREE as always, so when I have the free time to put them up and the extra cash it will take for the bandwidth to provide you with free information, all will again benefit from all my expertice and work. I have been out of work for most of the last 2 years living on my savings and some helpful friends so I just don't have extra money to spend. If I were running the site for the club as it should be, the searchable, real text manuals I produced with members in mind on my own time and $, would already be there. So would the electrical interactive schematics I started and there would be about 75+ new VIN #s too. but don't hold your breath!

P.S. I already was AOTY once for what I did with our club site, remember? Thanks for the positive comments (I hope they were intended to be positive)

John,

I think it is time for you to grow up, shut up, and get over it.

I WAS one of those who was unhappy with how you are treated. In recent months my opinion has changed entirely and it is all OF YOUR OWN DOING. I for one am sick and tired of your constant cheap shots and hijacking of everyone else's posts to this forum. Trust me buddy, your 2-3 years of childish rants have lost you the support of 90% of those who were originally behind you.

If you think you got screwed then welcome to another club called "Thats Life". We have all been there at some time our lives. Move on and stop crying about it. If you think you can do a better job running a club, and that everyone is awaiting your return on a white horse, then run for IAOC President or go ahead and start a new Amphi Club of your own.

Its over John. What happened, happened. NOBODY wants to hear about it any more. Stop living in the past. Change your "former president" signature and move on with your life.

In the mean time, I am begging and pleading with the management of this forum to either ban you entirely or to moderate you fully. And yes John, this is coming from someone who had been a very strong supporter of you.

Brian,

You are certainly entitled to you opinon and I can and do respect that. If you supported me, I thank you. You do NOT have all the facts so I can't and won't fault you or anyone for that. I never wanted nor asked to be President, EVER but I was "encouraged" strongly by the board members of the time (nominated by Ron Green, by the way) to take the job after Amphipoda because nobody else wanted it. I never said I'd be good at that position nor did I lead anyone to think differently and I have always admitted that I surely sucked at it but at least I tried, what have you done? My signature will remain as is because I am a former President, Webmaster AND (albeit a short term) Treasurer. I had 3 of the 7 positions at the time and I still wasn't doing enough to make some people happy. My forte was web design and that's it. I stepped in when nobody else would.

I respectfully encourage you to please toss your hat into the ring by stepping up to one of the board positions opening if you have such strong convictions and ideas. I can say that those who express thier opinion to me certainly do not share yours. (how many people were in this poll you took anyway? 90% of how many exactly?)

Nobody has a right to complain if they don't participate. I can't even get
them to send me a roster even though I've requested it nicely twice so I
doubt working with any of them would be any more productive. (I have one,
thanks anyway)

John:

As the Membership Registrar of the IAOC, it is my responsibility to provide
roster data to all of our members, so I'll try to address your "question" as
best I can.

You have never previously requested a copy of the roster, either by email,
public list post, telephone or written letter. As the roster exists as an
Excel spreadsheet of about 100 kB, I could easily send you a copy as an
email attachment. Unfortunately, you have blocked my email address, so that
is currently impossible.

The IAOC included a printed roster with a recent W-n-W mailing; are you
saying that you did not receive that mailing? I know that you never notified
me that you didn't receive your copy.

But then you say you have a copy of the roster, so it seems that your real
problem is that you perceive that the IAOC Board is somehow treating you as
a second class member. Hmmm, sorry, but I only disseminate the roster, I
don't do ice cream and cookies.

I suggest that you unblock your email so that you can receive the benefits
of IAOC membership available to all our other members. You are invited to
contact me directly on any issue of IAOC membership or benefits. I have
already forgiven you of your past actions, so I promise to treat you with
the same equity that I afford to all IAOC members.

Re: Looking for owner of Vin # 100-816

Is there any possible chance that you guys could stop this childish
whining.
I belong to over thirty car clubs with forums, and although they all
have their little spats and struggles, I have not seen anything of
this nature. It is unfortunate, and really puts out a bad impression
for our entire group, especially to people who are new to this forum.
We get it. You guys don't like each other. You did a lot for the club
and nobody appreciated it. It is a thankless job, but hopefully you
did it because you care about the Amphicars and about the people.
I personally think that your skills, knowledge, help, and advice are
incredibly valuable, and I am personally sorry that you did not
receive appropriate or adequate acknowledgement for your
contributions, and that you were chastised for these efforts, but
frankly, everyone is really tired of reading about this feud.
Can we please move on to discussing Amphicars?
Thanks,
Chas
