Hi Guys,

One of my cars has an undertank type of heater and it has developed a
slow leak at that valve. Does anyone have any experience repairing
this valve? Is there an O ring that needs changing? I haven't tried
tearing into it yet but I'd like to know what I'm going to find in
advance, if possible.

Thanks,

John Friese

Yes, John. There is an o-ring in there. Don't remember the size, but easy to find at any hardware store, including Lowes. Easy removal of the valve, also.

Hello Mark,

I got through the O ring change okay. It took me a bit to figure out
how that valve came apart. I don't see a breakdown of that valve
assembly in the manual but it's done now. I found the O ring itself to
be at a local hardware store and I replaced the screws and washers
around the valve with stainless steel parts. All is well now. I think
it was the only piece of functional rubber that I didn't replace during
the restoration of 3 years ago, so it was certainly overdue.
