Fibreglass Amphicar

I may be 1 steep closer to making a complete Amphicar in Fibreglass.
I have a NOS steel enginge pod I just cleaned and primed. Plan is to paint inside and use it as the mould to pull FibreGlass pods out of.
I know theres not much call so the cost of making a mould is prohibative,
The only part I make that has paid for a mould so far is the FibreGlass rear seat base bottom...every Amphicar out there should have This!!!I have installed photos somewhere
So up to date I now make the main floor area, the front skid plate.complete front clips(with front fenders or seperatly,)door skins, inner door bottoms, rockers, rear fenders(complete or 1/2 hight)Complete inner rear fenders,
section across the rear of car where licence plate is.Rear hoods, and the best darn Front hood out there!
Off to Boston.. Have Front hoods there!

Gord- lolol... when I read this at first, a place called "Aquarena" in San Marcos Texas came to mind. They had "glass" bottom boats so tourists could see the fish under the water. lolol... never mind...you meant fiberglass...lolol.. After the first sentence I briefly thought that you were getting into the tour business! lolol - azpaul50

When you put in the seat base do you eliminate the metal brace in the middle?

Thanks Jeff W.

:045::045:I love the fiberglass rear seat base that I got from Gord S. I got the beefed up model with ribs molded under it. I recommend the black foam insulation kit that goes with it.With Gords kit,my back seat stays cool (and quieter) and I can stand up on my back seat without fear of falling through.Ill save my original cardboard seat base for the next owner in case he demands originality.

Don't kick yourself so much.* I too thought Gord was talking about a glass
Amphicar.* I was picturing the metal seat frames & door panels in glass.* I
actually couldn't understand what Gord was thinking about.* Funny.* Ina

When I asked about a fiberglass Amphi when I met you at Celina, I wasn't that serious...apparently you were. :) I would love to see some type of tube frame and a complete fiberglass body...make an Amphi truly seaworthy.

There.. I fixed the first message and removed the short form for Fibreglass,(Glass)
All those old parts bodies out there are no longer scrap. they can all be brought back.
Ron T. is my living proof they can take a beating. He even got caught up on a underwater cement dock last year.. Bag!!!... no leak. but he sure was scared!!

You should make a light weight Amphi trailer. I have the rusty front clip I think about using...... Be easier if you made it! Make a handful, I will be your midwest distributor.

Does anyone have a picture of Gord's rear seat fiberglass insulation kit?
Thanks,
Ted

Ted,
Here's what I received. Insulation and some kind of edge-attachment would be needed. If you go this way, be sure to add drain holes, as the shape is identical to the old press-board unit right down to the "dip" between the edge and center-brace.

I have a fibreglass front clip,(both sides and bottom), add to it front head light piece, inner wheel wells and a glass hood and you now have a supper light nose piece.
but the cost whould make it a very expensive trailer

Just finished the 1st, engine pod. in fibreglass. Real nice part made extra thick. All you need now is a good frame and you can recreate a complete Amphicar.I have such a car here,I cut the front fenders off it back in 94 to make my 1st car. its on my to do list but, I puts it wayyyyyyyyyyy back on the to do list
We also pulled off the front inner fenders in F glass
Because we did not make a mould the cost of these parts is very fair!

Gord, You are amazing with this fiber glass. Are you in FL now? I am in TX on
business. Have fun

Just finished installing rear fenders and inner fenders and the piece across the back (holds licence plate) in Fibreglass on Herbs car that was rear ended in the spring. To see the progress on this car go to my webside and click on Herbs site(named after his dog)He has done a great story there.
