Hi everyone,
Well, today, April 15, 2001, I finally took the plunge, thanks to the
generosity of Steve and John. I rode in Steve's red Amphi and my friend
Matt rode in John's blue Amphi. As we wheeled down the boat launch,
there were at least twenty faces staring at us from the dock and shore.
As we neared the water, a girl maybe about twelve standing on the dock
said something like, "are you going to go in the water?" Steve
responded, "yes," and without missing a beat the girl said, "why,"
which, I thought, was pretty funny. Trying to think of something to say,
I said, "for fun."
As we plunged into the water, I couldn't believe it. We didn't sink. I
was already at that point amazed that you sealed the door with only the
turn of a handle, and now we were floating. As we cruised Lake Miramar,
I was really amazed.
Suffice it to say, I am amazed. And I want one.
For me the next step is going to be to educate myself more about how
these little guys work, and research the archives for more information
and stories about how they work. I am concerned about the maintenance,
and before I plunge in, I want to make sure this is something I'd feel
confident enough to work on, being only semi-mechanically inclined. At
the same time, they are so cool! I do also have to make sure this is
something I can afford. The search begins.
I want to express my thanks to this list, and especially to Steve and
John for allowing myself to tag along for a list. Thanks, you guys!!!
