Wheels needed

Our project Amphicar has two different types of wheels on it, two with
slots and two without. Susan and I have discussed whether we should
have try and find two originals to make a matching set or whether we
should just put one matched set on the left side and the other
matching set on the right side....:)

We've opted to try and find a pair of matching original wheels. So
with that in mind, we're looking for two original amphi wheels, if you
have a pair you're interested in selling let us know.

By the way, I'm assuming the wheels with the slots are the original
style of wheels.

Thanks!

Brad

Too bad you did not think of this before the Evansville show,, I could have brought them down, but with my hassel at the borders I hate to even try now.
Spare Original amphicar wheels that are not bent dented or out of round are hard to find,,I may have some good for spares but would really have to look, and test what I have to see if there good .
Email me off line and I will try to reply when I get it working

I use to have 4 original Amphicar tires. I wanted to put them on my Amphicar when it was restored & was told to get new tires as the original ones were dangerous to drive on. I sold 2 of the original tires to John Bevins for an Amphicar in a museum. I may have 1 or 2 somewhere in the garage. If you contact me at my e-mail address or call my phone we can talk about it off line: ribcab@verizon.net 609-726-0341 Ina (in the Boro)

I use to have 4 original Amphicar tires. <SNIP>

Ina - Brad is looking for wheels not tires. I sent the 2 tires I got from you to a museum that I saw had an Amphi with 2 incorrect tires and two originals. Now they have 4 matching, correct tires.

Hey John: Wheels, tires, what's the difference? Don't they all make the car go 'round? I guess I'd better take an auto mechanic's class!!

I'm very proud that my original Amphicar tires went to that museum. I now have belongings at 2 museums in the US. The other one is in Phila., PA. I donated my Master's Thesis to the Balch Institute of Studies (I think that is their name, it's been so long). My thesis was an oral & written history of Salsa Music in Phila. (No autographs please.) Ina

Yeah Capt John!! I'll bet the museum Amphi is smiling now to have
evenly matched and correct tires.
That was nice of you to help them out. You're always doing something
nice, Thanks, Chuck

Yep, I need two wheels NOT two tires! (actually we need four tires but
we're a ways from needing them).

John, thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks "Good Luck" Chuck! Yes, it looks much better sitting there now with 4 www tires. Kinda like having the both socks match! :005: I just thought if I had 2 extras, why not help them out. They did comment to me that my simple gift (I don't recall what I paid for them but they were only $11 ea to ship)changed they way they looked at the club members because they had a negative experience with a board member and decided not to involve themselves with the club as a result. Hopefully they don't paint us all with that same brush.

need prop u-joint number

Can someone confirm the Napa prop u-joint numbers? I saw 812 somewhere in past but need to confirm. What Napa has is PUJ812- 2.15" length. Is this right? If not can someone post what they have used from any auto parts store? Universal Parts tip link does not work on Amphicar.com so I could not look there.
Also, I can't figure how to create a new subject. Went to "new", "user cp", FAQ so I needed to reply to this unrelated message. Likely it is obvious but I couldn't find it.

The "Universal Parts Link <http://www.amphicar.com/parts_exchange.htm> "
works fine (choose 'Parts Interchange' under the 'Technical' tab),
unfortunately there is no Prop U-Joint tip listed.

Amphicar.net (Bilgey's old site with a vast spiderweb of Amphicar-related
links) is down, hopefully only temporarily.

need prop u-joint number

Quoting a post from a few years ago:

Hi Marty & Caryl, that part number is NAPA part number 812 @ $18.88 each for

the prop shafts and NAPA part number 317 @ $19.97 for the drive shafts. The
total cost for NAPA to install 6 u-joints in the three prop drive and 4
u-joints in the two drive shafts on Weird Harold was $147. That was for 10
u-joints.
Thanks Tommy in Tampa
