Trailer license

Does anybody know the law regarding trailer license. I am wondering what
Wisconsin requires and other states such as Indiana Ohio and Illinois. I
have asked several law enforcement type people and all have a different
answer but are unable to pin it down exactly. One opinion I got was total
weight of trailer and load must be under 3000 lbs. Well, the Amphi weighs
about 2300 so that would only leave 700 for the trailer. One other opinion
is 4500 total weight. That would probably be OK, but no one seems to really
know.

Tim,

Wisconsin requires your trailer to be registered if it's loaded
weight exceeds 3000 lbs.

I have only ran into one person who was ever questioned about their
trailer registration in our state when towing a loaded car hauler.

Tim,
How bout this link. It may confirm the trailer laws. It's for boat
trailers, but my guess is the laws are the same for any ol' trailer.
