the fit of the flame arrester onto the carburetor

Hi everyone, About the fit of the flame arrester onto the carburetor. Do any
fit well? The air filter fits nicely on top of the flame arrester but there
is no gasket between the flame arrester and the carburetor. I think the air
seeks the course of least resistance and that's not through the filter. I bet
Amphi inhales many gallons of unfiltered air and that can't be good. What do
some of you old pro Amphi guys do?

Tommy,
A simple gasket might do the trick but since I've never heard of one
of these engines being rebuilt because of worn cylinders, I doubt a
bit of unfiltered air is that big a problem.

Tommy,

They all fit loose. The thing to be VERY CAREFUL of is not to
overtighten the set screws. This can deform the carb body or even
punch holes. I took 2 small pieces of nylon and formed a bumper that
fits into the formed groove for the set screws to tighten against.
This helped but I am not sure how necessary. As John F. mentioned, A
rubber gasket may be just the ticket!
