Do anyone watch Paul McCartney at the superbowl halftime.
During the song, Baby you can drive my car, there were cars displayed on the
video screens.
Either I had 1 too many beers, or I saw an Amphicar for a brief couple
seconds.
Till later.....

Hi Ken,

I just happened to have taped the game and the half time show was
still on the tape. I watched it carefully and sure enough there was
an Amphicar on the video screens for about 4 seconds. Even though
the colors were altered on the screens, it appeared to be a White
Amphicar, with two people in it, that was driving out of the
water. It is certainly easier to see in "slow scan" playback and you
were very observant to notice it. I guess you get sensitive to
spotting Amphicars when you've had them around for 25 years. I
wonder who put the video collage together for the show.

Congratulations,

I know I've mentioned it before but over the years a number of people have said to me that John Lennon bought at least one new white Amphicar in the 1960s to play with on his country estate near London and there is alleged to be a picture of him and Paul in the car. I've never been able to find it and a TV researcher recently looked for it and could find no clues. Any ID on the white car in the show ? Was it a period shot - left or right hand drive ?

Hello David,

I frame by frame scanned the few seconds and I think it IS Lennon's
car. The shortness of the clip, camera angle and dissimilar frame
rates make it almost impossible to make out any detail. I'm sure it
would be quite clear though if one were looking straight at the
screen. It also appears to be a right hand drive car. I wouldn't be
surprised if the rumors were true and Lennon had an Amphicar, and
that this was it.
