Does anyone have a total number produced? I have heard from 500 (yea,
right) to 3760 (more likely) to 40,000 (not a chance).

So what is the "accepted" total?

According to Ren? Pohl, author of "Mit dem Auto Baden gehen", the exact
number of Amphicars produced was 3,878. This was the figure he presented at
the Celina 2001 Saturday Tech Session, and it has since been incorporated
into the text of the Club's "History" page at
http://www.amphicar.com/history.htm .
