A few days early, but loaded Amphi into her new trailer this morning. We leave Tuesday for the Celina, Port Clinton, Boston and Lake Winnipesaukee swim-ins, plus some family visits in Minneapolis, MN and Rochester, MI.
.
We made the trip to Boston in 2010 (but missed Celina) drivng the RV and flat-towing Amphi -- it was an 8,500 mile journey. This time we are "motel-ling it" & Amphi will be treated much better!
.
We look forward to seeing many of you.

Spent Thursday night in Gillette, WY, just about half-way there. So far so good: always nice to report "uneventful"! The Tacoma V6 doesn't get the best fuel mileage, but it is working pretty hard up some of the mountains. Amphi is very happy to be riding in comfort for a change.

2,673 miles later we arrived at the ABVI at 4:20pm (no smoke anywhere -- bad 4:20 reference), but fairly breezy, light overcast & a pretty muggy 88°.
A long drive but we are ready to go & looking forward to a great week!

Currently in Des Moines, Iowa on the (long) drive home (did I mention VERY long!)?
.
The swim-ins at Celina, Port Clinton, Taunton, and NH were great. If my count was right there were 19 cars at Celina, 4 in Port Clinton, 12 or so in Boston and 10 on Lake Winnipesaukee, but more importantly there were many more people, lots of stories and interactions, and terrific venues provided by the hosts, volunteers and participants. Nancy & I had a great time and are certainly indebted to those who put forth these fine efforts. These gatherings of enthusiasts and special cars certainly spread the passion. Everyone's time is precious, but if you haven't recently attended or hosted a local or regional swim-in I strongly recommend making the effort to do so.
.
We will get some photos and summaries up here and on the IAOC website when home and I am sure there will be planning for repeat or expanded gatherings fornext and future years. For now we continue the (did I mention LONG?) drive .. .. ..
