Well, I ordered up the VW clutch cable. Looked just like an Amphi
parking brake cable...just 30% bigger. Oh well. So, I went down to the
local Ace Hardware, bought 6 feet of Aircraft cable, some cable clamps
(the kind you mash with a hammer), and simply spliced in a new section
of cable to replace the rusted chunk. Pretty easy...especially since you
do not have to worry about taking off the outer cable housing and the
like. Just cut it off in the bilge area, splice in the new section,
thread it into the cable housing and into the brake, and splice the hook
on. Piece of cake, and it cost 5 bucks. And, if it evers rusts again,
splice on another! Five bucks total.
