Explored Lake Havasu over the weekend. HOT!
About 105 degrees in the shade. Spring Break
atmosphere, mirrored sun glasses were a must
for bikini viewing. Didn't bring Amphi but
thought about it beforehand, in retrospect
glad we didn't. Between the intense heat,
river current, choppy waves, over abundance
of massive jet boats, jet skiers, and generally
crowded waterways we were lucky to survive in
our little rented Tango (a tiny jet boat like
a wave rider built for 4 passengers). We did
manage to travel up river about 25 miles to
Needles CA, the scene of my infamous stunt
double 40 mph Junkyard Wars splash entry,

20splash.wmv)
The things that struck me most different about
the Tango versus Amphi was the steering and
speed. The Tango would scream up river but
required constant steering adjustment as it
wouldn't track straight worth a damn, however
it would turn on a dime. Compared to Amphi,
who steers like a luxury liner and will go
straight forever and ever, but could never
go up such a strong river current. Also the
whole trailer experience thing... WTF? I
really missed not being able to just drive
out of the water and motor on down the road.
Given a choice I'll take Amphi hands down...
it's not about speed or steering my fine finned
friends... it's how you arrive and leave and
the smiles you spread along the way.

Be well, swim safe.
