Fwd: Clock refacing

Jeff, I sent a msg to Hhf18@aol.com and received a reply regarding the
clocks. My questions weren't really answered, however. Here's the
thread.

I'm not going to do anything with my instruments at this time.
Perhaps a winter project. John Friese recommended North Hollywood
Speedometer. They have a website and looks like great work but don't
know their prices. If anyone else has recommendations or would like
to pick up the research, we'd all like to know.

Steve says he needs at least 6 clocks with good chrome rings to send out to get a better price from his guy,
I have put 1 in he had for himself it looked good
As I said, he has all mine, waiting for more..\GORD.

Do you know what he charges per clock? I will definitely want to do
at least one and would possibly commit to a second one if we were one
short of getting a batch done. Depending on price of course!

Thanks Ken, I too would make this a winter project, perhaps we can get a bunch of owners together once we find the right guy to do it and collaberate.

If Steve has a good silkscreen, that's a lot of the battle. The exact chrome rings aren't available any longer but there's a replacement that is so good you have to look close to see any difference from the Motometer original. I think I have a spare, unconverted, clock sitting around with a bad face plate. Chances are I would include it in the batch too if it would get converted to a quartz movement.

Larry,

When I had mine done I had them bring both hot and ground leads to the back of the clock. This entailed adding another post to the back of the clock so that both positive and negative leads are there. This way you can ground the side that you need with a short wire and connect the hot side to the wire from the battery. This way the clock works for either positive or negative ground cars.
