Electric fuel pump

I am adding an electric fuel pump to aid in proventing vapor lock. Can the mechcanial pump pull fuel through the electric pump when it's shut off? Also adding exhaust heat tape and heat shield. Thanks, Randy Pond

Doesn't it depend on if it is a rotary style or a impulse type? I'd think the rotary type might not pull through well.

To test the elc. fuel pump,(so manual will work with it) before installing, suck on the outlet side. there should be no resistance.
I have one on all my cars, makes starting after long storage easer too.
