Electric fuel pump

I finished installing the in line fuel pump with switch, do you run the pump from the start on hot days, or only when vapor lock starts? I also wraped the muffer and pipe with heat tape. Thanks

I took the car out today after my modifications and it died after about ten minutes. It starts right up, but no power when you step on the gas, just wants to die. Don't know if the vapor lock is still with me or another carb problem.

I run w/ the mechanical pump, but use the electric pump for starting and if I should experience any vapor
lock. Silly thought, but if your car is still positive ground insure you connected the pump backwards so it is pumping and not robbing fuel. Is the 10-minute dying issue with the electric pump on?

I did hook it up backwards, when it died the pump was off. I turned it on and the car started right up but no power, just wanted to idle and bogged down or died when you gave it gas. All this is a new issue as it never happened until a few weeks ago, makes me think it might be something else. I'm supposed to go on a swim in next week, but I won't go if I can't this straightened out.

insulate the fuel lines and separate them under the floor from the heater hoses! Keep heat from exhaust away from carb with a heat shield. Wrap the exhaust muffler. make sure carb fuel pumper is pumering..(I have some now (in NH)you should be able to see it squirt into ventures in carb when accelerating.

Check your fuel filters.Wrapping mufflers can cause other issues like a very hot tail pipe, causing paint issues. Here in hot Florida I run the electric all the time. Instead of insulating fuel lines better off to route differently. A weak coil will also cause your problem. Idle ok but no power.

Thanks, I'm going to change the coil and in line filter.
