I had the great pleasure of being invited to a large rod and custom
show this weekend. My survivor Amphi was on display with
a "Fascination" (see www.amphicar.com for more details) a 1936 Brough-
Superior (VERY cool bike), Isetta 300, Sterling Moss' Mustang, 1920s
Bugatti, a concourse '59 Bonneville convert and quite a few other
really great cars. The show had about 500+ cars there in total.
Mostly rods and a few original cars.

I was also invited to bring my Amphi to a concourse event next year
here in Colorado and to see a friend's Tucker (#17) I have never had
a chance to see one up close before. Hopefully next summer I will get
a flight in a '49 Molt Taylor Aerocar too. (THEEE coolest car ever)

It was a great show and a really badly needed break from the usual.
Starting next week I will be starting on 2 full-on Amphi restos.
Looks like I will be even more busy for a while. No time left to
complete the power brakes and monster 1500 engine install (the engine
has been sitting in the corner for 2+ years) on my ivory Amphi. I
hoped to have my '59 Skyliner road-worthy by now too but it will get
parked until some other time. You know how life can be!

John -

Neat experience with your Amphicar at the show. You mentioned never having had the opportunity to examine a Tucker up close. A friend of mine with a deep enough pocket acquired a Tucker for a quarter million and displayed it at the Fort Lauderdale AACA show. That area was our home for 35 years andused to be our stamping grounds. Originally, I am from the Detroit area and my tale originated there. Many of ushave "what if" or "if only my crystal ball worked better" stories. One of mine iswhen I was answering an ad for an antique car in the early 60's. In the same building were two Tuckers and the asking price for either was $ 4000. That was certainly more money than I had to throw around at that time, but with the benefit of hindsight, it would have been money well spent. Vic "Captain Splash" Nelson near Daytona</font>
