Since I,ve come black from Fl. I have been Trying to catch up on work, Mig Welding with primer on the back side of metal (smoke) gringing the welds(grit)wood stove going steady to keep warm, doors open for fresh air, putting motors and tranys together, all last week I felt out of breath and tired, So I went in to see the Doc, Turns out my old heart is acting up again,,Really acting up, Skipping all over the place, so they threw me on Rat poison:eek: and want to do a bunch of test,,May have to delay my return to Fl.
Oh well, gotta go,,,, a little more welding to do in the shop today, then in on to another amphi, the fun part, assembly!!!.

Gord, welding through anything is bad for you and will affect your welds (unless it's a weld thru primer). The fumes can be very toxic when burned. Always start with clean metal before welding and for your sake and ours, please use a mask!

You have a good heart, and we would love to still have you around to give crap to! Be well my friend!

Here is something that anyone who TIG or MIG welds needs to be aware of.

The article really opened my eyes to the dangers to be found in working on
our vehicles especially when welding.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

Ditto to what Dave says here (except the part about working for you in
Florida). I'm sure you'll have to do SOMETHING to fix my Amphicar
this coming season. Let's see: You adjusted the doors, Jim adjusted
the doors, Gregg adjusted the doors, you did some more work adjusting
the doors, Jim did some more work adjusting the doors, Gregg is
waiting to check the adjustment of the doors, & I know that I'll need
you to check the doors again. So, you 'd better not go anywhere! Ina

You alway read the lines too detailed. I went back and corrected the 1st message.
I alway etch prime the back side of all new metals before there hidden
and before I box in any part it is painted in hidden areas,
This car (with a new floor) even has the back side of the frame painted.
When I work on a car I pretend it is Mine and do what I think is the best Job.
Most welding is now done ..Yeaaaaa!

Being detailed is what I do! :) I've worked in engineering/manufacturing and being the guy who wrote/illustrated the technical manuals for almost 25 years. I was involved from inception to production. As a result, I'm just a very detailed oriented person. I started restoring cars as a kid. My 1st was a 37 Ford Tudor Sedan Delux that I did with my dad while in Jr. high school and I got to drive to school once for a "demonstration" speech in english class. OK, it was only 5 miles, but when you live in the country you start driving when you can reach the pedals. In a restoration, the difference between a $50k car and a $100k car are the details.

My intention was only for your health & safety and I hope you didn't take anything negatively.

Well it seems the CAR PARTS WHOLESALE bit isn't just limited to the Amphicar community. People in the Corvair world(of which I'm a part) are starting to notice the same thing. The best one so far is the headers that fit the 10 cylinder Corvair. I was really hoping to get headers for my 10 cylinder Amphicar. Eh, what are you gonna do.
