Seroiusly though, how about stitching a extra piece on the front
edge? Ever done such thing?

What I do is have Dave order the pre sewn header seal in matching color. The
original tops had them built in. The replacements do not come with. The header
seal covers the giant gap between frames. We are currently working with Electron
to improve current top and top boot. Another help is to use fuel line as a cover
for the "knife edge" Then install top. Later Dave the Wave - Midwestamphicar.com

Dave,

What do you mean by "the giant gap between frames"?

Gordon's has a molded piece of rubber that is the perfect fit to
cover the "knife edge" along the front of the frame. It's more the
thickness of vacuum line than fuel line and it's flat on the top and
bottom for a correct, and invisible, fit.

Do you have a picture of this piece?.........The piece Dave "the wave" is talking about is called a header seal and that gives the front edge a nice clean finished look. You me wondering if we are talking about the same part.

Dave,

What I would call a "header seal" is a gray tubular rubber piece,
that has a mounting strip sticking out along one side, that mounts to
the top frame header and seals against the windshield frame to keep
rain and wind from leaking through this joint when driving in the
rain with the top up. Hugh sells such a seal.

Hugh also sells another piece of rubber that is U shaped and slips
onto that front, knife edge of the top frame header. It is there to
simply give a clean rounded surface for the top to wrap around at
that front edge.

I don't see these parts clearly shown in the Amphi parts book but if
you call Hugh (Gordon's) I'm sure they'll have a number for these two
parts. I bought these parts from Gordon's for both my Amphicars.
