Title woes

>>>I am trying to register my Amphi at the Parks and wildlife dept.
(Airport rd., Fort Worth)as a boat. The said they want current
registation from Colorado (Where I bought the Amphi) or proof that
it wasn't registered in Colorado. The previous owner won't get me
the required items to complete the registration.

I feel I need to clarify this so there are no mis-understandings. I
sold the car to Marc months ago with a Bill Of Sale as I got the car
from NJ which does not have titles for cars of this vintage. His
state needed a title so a couple weeks ago I paid the $140 for his
title thru Broadway title. I did not refuse to get anything. I only
said I was not able to take off work and drive 70 miles to get a
letter from the State of Colorado on thier letterhead to say the car
was not registered here. I suggested he speak with other Texas folks
and see what they did.

I went through serious hassles getting Das boot titles as a boat in
Texas. That place on Airport Freeway is a nightmare. The lady(?) working
there is the biggest pain in the butt of all time. I had the car title,
just no boat title. Call me at 817-483-5451 if you want to talk about
how I handled it.

Hi Dan: yeah, that's is the place I went to. I had the Auto title & Tax receipt
and they gave me a long list of things I need to do to get it Titled as a
'Vessel' in Texas. They asked me where I bought it (not who) and said Colorado.
I will get back with you when the original Texas title shows up and see what
else I need to get this thing in the water. Those tires from Discount seem to
be the best to get. There is one in Lake Worth and I think I am going there
tomorrow and order some. Marc.

I just started reading these title problems & want to say something since I
live in New Jersey. Yes, NJ does title Amphicars. I am proof. I had no
problems getting a car title for my Amphi as a car. Since Sept, I've been
trying to title it as a boat & have been given the royal run around by the Dept.
of Motor Vehicles. It really helps when you know someone else in your state
that has a titled Amphi. Having their registration # & name can save much
needed aggravation. There are now 6 Amphicars (that Billy Syx & I know of)
registered in the state of NJ. To register the Amphi as a boat one must bring
the car 'in person' to the Marine Police so they can view it & fill out a HIN
report. Once you have the HIN report you take it to the DMV & supposidly just
get the boat title. That part I'm waiting to see about. I hope to get that
piece finished by spring when my Amphi should be completely restored.
