Couple Of Amphicar Questions

1. On a hot day, what does the temp gauge read on y'all's cars? With a
new sending unit, mine is reading on the "M" or "A" on "normal"

2. What is the purpose of the smaller rear seat cushion (aka the "swim
seat") How does it make swimming any better? Are they more or less
comfortable than the regular reat seat?

Hi,

Unlike the fuel gauge, the temperature gauge is a simple coil that is
heated by current flow. It doesn't care what the polarity is and
thus doesn't need to be altered when switching the car to negative
ground. I'm hard pressed to understand how your gauge can be
operating backward unless it has the wrong kind of sending unit or
the internal spring mechanism was somehow altered by someone who
thought such an alteration was necessary for a conversion to negative
ground. I would guess it's the wrong sending unit. The original unit
has a low resistance when cold and a higher resistance as it warms up.

gauges!!!. . . i have several new ones i bought from hugh, i should put a new one in!@! my original gauge is so faded and cracked, it shows 'originality' . . lol . . and, i didn't know there was a rear seat option???
