I never consider anything "sold" until cash is in hand. I require a
small non-refundable deposit before I will take a car off the market
to help encourage them to follow through. I do not sell on eBay
either as too many people refuse to acknowledge their contract to
buy and eBay makes little if any effort to enforce the sale. It's
been 4 or 5 years since I tried to sell an Amphi on eBay. It ran
through 3 or 4 times because of non-paying bidders. One lady said
her 3 year old "accidently" hit the But it Now button! BS!!!! eBay
made no effort what so ever to correct it and they forced me to pay
for the listings anyway.

Gord - Make some metal battery boxes/trays a bit wider (.50" - .75"
or so I think may work) to accomidate new style batteries. This is
why most boxes are gone from cars. The older style batteries were
thinner. When new batteries were installed, the boxes were to small
and got tossed. Maybe we could have the original look with a modern
battery inside?

Hello Mike and Dan,

I've run my restored Amphicar with all the original battery box parts
for over 4 years now and there's no sign of rust or any problem. Of
course, I did powder coat the battery box and have a coat of Por 15
with a top coat of epoxy on the tray and straps. There's no sign of
any corrosion anywhere in the area.

The battery that fits the box correctly is a group 22NF. I bought one
at Sears 5 years ago but I don't think they have them now. That
battery size can still be obtained though.
