Hello my fine finned friends. I visited with a nice 86 year old
gentleman yesterday who is selling his 64 white Amphi. I just wanted
to share with you some thoughts about the car and its condition so as
to avoid anyones possible disappointment.
The car is located in New Hampshire. It is white with a black top
(new) and a red and white interior. The car has recently been
painted. The side mouldings have been removed (you know what that
means). there has been extensive manipulation of the wiring and many
of the origional swiches have been replaced. It has had a replacement
speedometer installed but the origional one is in the glove box. I
reads about 8700 miles but I can assure you that in my opinion it may
have been broken for a while.
The car does run and drive on land. I did not take it to water as
it was not registered but I did engage the props and they both spun.
One thing I did want to mention was that the prop shifter resembled
the one that TOMMY IN TAMPA said that Harold has (when you put is in
forward it almost touches the floor)
Basically here is a brief summary:
the rear quarters have been cut off and some work has been done
and rust is comming through again
The doors both appear to have rust repair in them and they do not
line up well
It need all of the tires replaced, most of the wiring put bak
together properly and I am sure there is more that I forgot at this
moment.
The trouble with the car and why I didn't buy it was that the
gentleman wants $19,000.00. I can not find it in my heart to tell him
what I thought it was really worth.
