Today I received the front grease seals I ordered from Hugh. Now you got me
scared. I thought this would be a simple repack job taking only a few minutes
a side. Apparently it seams the inner bearing must seize onto the spindle
making for a difficult removal. I am now going to wait until after the
Racine Boat Show before I take it apart. Does anyone know the after market
number for both the inner and outer wheel bearings or must they be bought
from California?

Tim,

Dont let my ignorance scare you. My amphicar is teaching me how to
become a mechanic in my own mind, thus I am using the group for some
guidance. This IS an easy job requiring as you said "only a few
minutes" but I am a beginner when it comes to the removal/assembly of
amphicar parts so I tend to make it appear more complicated than it
really is.

Good luck, I bet it will be a piece of cake for ya.

Tim,

The Timkin bearing numbers for the front wheels are:

30206 inside bearing and race

30204 outside bearing and race

26630 is the seal

Has anyone had any experience with the "Bearing Buddy" concept for keeping
the front wheel bearings greased with the use of a grease gun. Boat trailers
often incorporate these. It seems like this would be great!
