I've been wittlin' away on small stuff to make my car more
marketable. The post on wiper washers was great. After I got the
new pump installed I found MOPAR on the fluid bag & pump. Oh well.
Pisses fluid extremely well now. Obviously an after market. My
wipers are wonderful with the new motor. I never wish a wiper motor
replacement upon anyone. A real b-i-t-c-h to replace. I don't know
if my wiper arms are stock, but the Trico blade inserts work perfect
on them.
I have second thoughts of selling my Amphi soon. The non profit
picnic that I gave dozens of rides to last July got canceled. That
would move the sail date up several weeks. But I was 'leak' testing
the car Sunday nite and got suckered into a photo shoot and two
possible contract for other gigs. It's amazing what can happen with
this car when you drive it around million dollar house boats. Go
figure. I want to move to Mexico and I may have found a means to
restore my amphi and keep it in PortLand whilst I play in Mexico?
Portland is such a great place to play with an Amphi. The
Willamette flows South to North to the Columbia thru downtown
Portland. There's parks and recreational areas past Salem and
Eugene. There's a lock to drive thru just south of Portland. Great
places to camp and hang out. The Spruce Goose is just 3 miles from
a Willamette boat ramp just a few miles south of here. A wonderful
place to have an Amphi gathering with a little scotch and a few
cigars.
Anyway, I'm dressing my car up for sail. I spent the 1st and second
year making it safe to drive. The second and third year making it
seaworthy. The latest year fixing little stuff like wipers and
washers.
My long term plan was to play with the car and slowly replace or fix
mechanical items which I have done. This coming winter I had
planned on a new interior and playing another year. I have always
been on the look out for an engine core to build up. Not a big
prioroty. Winter '09 I had planned to address some quarter panel
issues.
I don't remember who told me a couple years back when I
asked 'should I restore it or play with it'. Someone wrote back and
said that if I wasn't worried about the looks or winning 1st place
in concourse that I should just make the car safe and have fun.
I'm having a ball with this silly car and want to thank whoever it
was for the great advise. My rule of thumb is never do anything to
your RV (plane, boat, car) that would keep you from usung it within
more than a few hours. We're pretty seasonal here so I think the
body work in a couple of years would work within the timeline. But
I'm moving to Mexico. Still have family here to visit. Possible
gigs with the car. A place to hangar it. Portland is a great Amphi
home. May have to hang on to it for a while. Besides, I have a
large credit with Hugh to spend. Oh, MY!

P.S. I also gotta see how my new wipers work on the river. Never
gave them a second thought,because I'm a fair weather driver,until I
went swimming the 1st time. Them suckers are important!!!
Love this silly vehicle.
