Ok, one last question about reconditioning and assembling the
oscillating arm or as I call it my rear right wheel assembly bearings
and seals as found in the Amphicar Maintenance Manual chapter 4.

I have the new bearings in and I am questioning the position of inner
and outer radial oil seals.

The seals have a flat side and a lipped side. The instructions say
to put them in with the flat side in toward the bearings, which
leaves the lipped sides facing out towards the water so the water
will not enter the bearings.

At first this seemed wrong as I wanted the lipped ends in to catch
the grease, but with the lipped sides out, the lips may catch the
water.

The seals I removed were both flat sides out. Maybe that is why the
bearings were shot.

Which is correct?

I'd like to get this thing back together and swim a few times before
Celina.
