Wheel Rim Rust

Some years ago I powder-coated Amphi's wheels. It made a nice, hard,
sealed & shiny finish. Recently, however, after swimming I am seeing
an increasing amount of rust bleeding down over the wide white
sidewalls, most likely from tire removals and installations w/ the
beadbar rubbing against the wheel edge.

Although the Diamondback Classic whitewalls are easy to clean w/
Scotchbrite, does anyone have a sealer or fix for the problem w/o re-
powder-coating the wheels? Perhaps there is a sealer or coating I
could use without removing the tires.

Thanks!

Off for a cruise and picnic at Lake Cavanaugh on this fantastic NW day!

Larry, it would be hard to believe that rust would be running from
the inside of the tire / rim onto your whitewalls as if that was the
case the tires would be leaking air. Unless the gorilla that changed
your tires really scrapped the paint off the edge of the rim you
should be able to see the rust. You need to tell him that there are
plastic guards for the tire changers and they work pretty well.

I too have on occasion see some brownish juice that runs on my
whitewalls however I believe it is coming from the brakes or possibly
from a small amount of grease? Somehow it lands on the whitewalls and
it does look like it is coming from the rim.

Hope all is well and say hello to Nancy. Celina was fun but for the
first time occasionally wet and always hot. Good luck!
