Hi guys.
We sometimes fret about the cost of Amphicar parts. I needed to replace
the distributor cap and the rotor for my Stalwart amphibious vehicle.
Here is what I paid. The distributor cap cost $100.80. The rotor cost
50.40 The small gasket cost $6.30. At the same time I thought I would
get a carb rebuild kit. That cost $189.00
So that's $346.50 for a distributor cap, rotor and a carb kit. Makes
the Amphicar parts suppliers look pretty good I think.

Not two bad if it fixed the problem, it once cost me almost that much after Amphi died and wouldn't start, was about to change the engine when Wavy Dave says change the rotor, which I had, twice, but that was it, so now I have a whole new electronic system plus new plugs, wires, coil and other new stuff not needed. Live, spend and learn--just gotta remember it.

Since the Stalwart must weigh three times what the Amphi weighs, per pound your cost are about right. Plus as Rene says, it is a Rolls-Royce, so that's worth a lot in bragging rights.</font>

Hi again, the Stalwart "Beastie" weights 19,600 LBS so based on that it
was a great deal. And Rene is correct it is a Rolls Royce.
For those of you who have not seen one, the motor is a 6300cc straight
eight. If you were to put it in an Amphicar, keeping the radiator in
the same place, you would need to cut the dash and move the gas tank
forward.
One thing for sure it needs the parts, the cap and rotor are both
cracked. But it was still running.
We will be swimming again soon but it won't be at Mt Dora.

A few years ago, I used my amphicar to pull one that was full of
passengers. Luckily it was floating in the water! Now that was an
experience to remember! It all started by jokingly offering my tow
rope as he had been sitting there for quite some time dead in the
water. He took me up on it... and I did not leave any amphicar parts
unintentionally behind. slow and easy does it... The pictures are on
my .net site.
