Waxoil Equivalent

Hi All,

Having come back from Celina has given me new
inspiration to fix up various bits on my Amphi. Am
busy putting on all those parts I have sitting in
boxes. Finished the interior from Gord, it looks
great!

I know that the topic of WaxOil has come up before.
Essentially it is an oily wax-like coating which helps
prevent rust. Unlike many other products, the
advantage is that it is easily removed and will not
dry out only to trap water. It seems to be one of the
few products that are endorsed by folks who generally
hate rust-proofing materials.

Waxoil can be hard to find in the USA. For those
interested, there is an essentially identical product
from Eastwood Co. called Heavy Duty Anti Rust. It
comes in cans or in aerosol. The aerosol works great
for getting at parts like inside the door panels,
rocker panels, inside the headlight buckets, etc.. I
have found it works great inside the front bumper, it
sticks where it should, any overspray just wipes off.
The stuff kind of vaporizes and oozes all over so it
can really seep into nooks and crannies. No
affiliation, just a satisfied user. More info at ...

Hi all,

There's another product available in many hardware stores that I use on the
Amphicar with satisfaction.

LPS-3 Heavy-Duty Rust Inhibitor in aerosol cans. From the can: Stops rust &
corrosion, Heavy-Duty protective coating, Up to two years protection,
Soft waxy film. Typical applications (from back of can): aircraft fuselages,
bare metal, battery terminals, offshore drilling equipment, outdoor
electrical connections, vehicle doors, ... Safe to use on fabric, rubber, paint
and other finishes. Non-flammable, non-conductive, does not
contain CFCs or silicones.

LPS-1 and 2 are available in thinner form. The usual disclaimer (no
affiliation, etc.)
