Many Amphicars we have seen are vented on the front side, and have a
fan that blows gasoline/bilge vapors from the vehicle before starting.

Our car is not equipped with this blower or vent. I would imagine it
would be a good thing to have and would help avoid the potential of
possible explosion.

Is there any history of accidents from cars not equipped with this
blower/vent.

Has anybody installed this system and what is involved.

Hi Marty, we talked bilge blowers last year, only American spec Amphicars
have them, it was a US Coastguard requirement, they were never fitted to
European cars and as far as we know there have never been any explosions - I
wouldn't worry about it !

One of the biggest explosion/fire risks on an original Amphicar is the fuel
pipe as it goes through the bilges, this should be changed at least once a
decade !
