Ok, here we go. I received some GREAT advice from the folks here on the list.
The most common one was about the axles not aligning correctly. So, this evening
I pulled off the passenger side one (because it seems to spin the most when the
wheels are off the ground), and checked
it out. After pulling the axle, I started the car, and plopped it into 3rd gear,
and ran it up to about 30. The tranny sounded quiet as can be. I thought that
this is a very good sign! So, I checked out the axle. I had the alignment off by
one spline. One lousy spline! So, I
hooked it all back together, and took it on a road trip. Much better! There is
still some small vibration, and noise, but I am hoping that this is caused by
the drivers side axle. I will keep you all posted.

Oh, by the way, everyone was right about removing the complete axle instead of
messing with the stub and arm. So much easier to work with. When I bought the
car, the control arms had been removed at the stub, and I had to fight them back
on. What a pain. That said, I still do
not understand what harm it would do to remove the control arms instad of the
whole axle (besides the extra work).

Thanks again everyone!

Happy Dan
