Got the new bearings in the hubs, and put it all back together....and
there is still noise. I am sure that it is tranny repair time. So...what
do you all think? It shifts fine, and does not leak, it is just making a
horrific racket. I am betting that I have a bearing that is about to
completely fail. I have no great fears of opening this thing up, but
should I expect a complete disassembly, or get in, replace a bearing or
two, and close it back up. Any ideas?

Thanks

For me, if a bearing was bad enough to make a "horrendous noise", I would assume
that a complete teardown was needed, as I would want to look at the gear teeth,
and examine the other bearings. I would be looking at the sump for metal
particles too.
