trailer vs tow dolly

I don't really have room for a car trailer; but would love to tow my amphicar to some of the 'swims' -- has anyone got suggestions around how to use a towbar with an Amphicar/rear engined car? Does anyone have (good) experience with one?

Hi

I use a tow bar on my 62 and it works well.

You have to beef up the frame where the front bumper brackets attach and
weld some tabs to the brackets to connect the tow bar.

As for lights I zip tie a light bar to the rear bumpers and run the wires up
to my tow vehicle.

Simple and no trailer to worry about.

Down side is it is starting to wobble a little bit because I need some front
end work, and some wear and tear on the drive train.

I only tow it 300 to 700 miles a year so I don't think it is to bad.

If you only tow once or twice a year, you really can not go wrong with renting a trailer from Uhaul. They weigh a ton but are very sturdy. Due to the Amphis' narrow wheelbase you need to be REALLY careful getting on and off the ramps. However, once on there, the over the wheel tie downs make things very simple.
